Rising Sun

Just ate at Rising Sun which is a sushi bar restaurant in Village Square on the corner of Sahara and Fort Apache. It was fresh and yummy. I didn’t take a photo of the sushi but did take a photo of the plates. I will uplaod it later cause I don know how to upload photots to my blog from the iPhone.

02/03/10 Add to review

So I figured out that iphone has an app for wordpress!!! Yes, I will see how it works next time I am out to do reviews and what not. But, I did want to post the picture and add’l comments about our experience at Rising Sun.

As I look back at our Sunday Sushi I am still salivating the experience and wanting more. Rising Sun had very yummy sushi and they also had a really good deal for lunch. They have lunch combos with 3 choices for only $9.95 you can choose from about 10 different things including some of the basic sushi rolls. I wanted some specialty rolls so I also orders The Rising Sun Roll (It had Shrimp Tempura, Asparagus and topped with Ahi Tuna) We ordered another called Hot and Spicy (can’t remember what was in it but this was my favorite!!!) We ordered one more roll but can’t remember the name off the top of my head. They topped all the rolls with different sauces which were very good but the Hot and Spicy could have done without the sauce. I must say I am picky about the rice and how fresh it is. Their rice was pretty fresh but, I have had better. The sushi was good and the prices were reasonable. If you head to Rising Sun come back and comment and let me know what you thought.

Fuddruckers

We went to Fuddruckers last night and we found out that kids eat free on Tuesday! What a drag as we went on Monday. But, want to be sure to share with you. They said both locations honor kids eat free Tuesday but call before you go to make sure.

Our 10 Year Anniversary

Here we are on our 10 year anniversary in Long Beach. Celebrating the best 10 years of our life!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Bram 7 weeks old

Josh and I did the maternity session for Bram’s mom and dad a couple months ago. With the holidays in between it was hard to get the newborn session scheduled but we did it! I did baby Bram’s session last Thursday. It is always so amazing for me to do a newborn after the maternity session. It just really brings to life the beauty of it all. Josh and Heidi are so blessed with such a little blessing. Bram is so full of personality already! I can’t wait to watch him grow over the years to come. Here are a few of my favorite images. Let me know what you think by leaving comments.

New Years on the Las Vegas Strip

Happy New Year © 2009

Joshua M. Barut

Here is a pano of the Las Vegas Strip on New Years. This shot was taken from an empty lot next to our house in the Northwest side of town. It was around 42 degrees at that time and yes very cold. Being from Hawaii, I was wearing my Levi Docker Shorts. Crazy!!! Muy loco in the cabeza!!! We had a great time. My brother-in-law and family came into Vegas from Cali and spent the New Years with us. While waiting for the fireworks to start my wife served up some hot chocolate and popcorn to keep us warm and awake.

Nineteen things to say to your children…

With 2010 finally here, New Year resolutions are popping out. You hear a lot of different ones but here is one that I feel I need to do. It’s Nineteen Things to Say to Your Children. It’s a post I found on KLOVE by Lisa from the morning show. As I began to read through them, I felt I haven’t been telling them enough. And as I thought about it more, I began to realize that growing up I never had that from my parents. Don’t get me wrong, I love and miss them dearly, but they never gave me words of love and encouragement. They showed it in other ways. And being brought up that way I tend to shut myself up in the expression of love and encouragement through words. So this new year, I’m challenging myself to at least encourage and love them even more by saying these words or even making up my own. Because a little word at night before bed will go a long way and even resonate and stay with them forever. And here they are, Nineteen Things to say to your Children…..
1. I love you! There is nothing that will make me stop loving you. Nothing you could do or say or think will ever change that.
2. You are amazing! I look at you with wonder! Not just at what you can do, but who you are. There is no one like you. No one!
3. It’s all right to cry. People cry for all kinds of reasons: when they are hurt, sad, glad, or worried; when they are angry, afraid, or lonely. Big people cry too. I do.
4. You’ve made a mistake. That was wrong. People make mistakes. I do. Is it something we can fix? What can we do? It’s all over. You can start fresh. I know you are sorry. I forgive you.
5. You did the right thing. That was scary or hard. Even though it wasn’t easy, you did it. I am proud of you; you should be too.
6. I’m sorry. Forgive me. I made a mistake.
7. You can change your mind. It’s good to decide, but it is also fine to change.
8. What a great idea! You were really thinking! How did you come up with that? Tell me more. Your mind is clever!
9. That was kind. You did something helpful and thoughtful for that person. That must make you feel good inside. Thank you!
10. I have a surprise for you. It’s not your birthday. It’s for no reason at all. Just a surprise, a little one, but a surprise.
11. I can wait. We have time. You don’t have to hurry this time.
12. What would you like to do? It’s your turn to pick. You have great ideas. It’s important to follow your special interests.
13. Tell me about it. I’d like to hear more. And then what happened? I’ll listen.
14. I’m right here. I won’t leave without saying good-bye. I am watching you. I am listening to you.
15. Please and Thank You. These are important words. If I forget to use them, will you remind me?
16. I missed you. I think about you when we are not together!
17. Just try. A little bit. One taste, one step. You might like it. Let’s see. I’ll help you if you need it. I think you can do it.
18. I’ll help you. I heard you call me, here I am. How can I help you? If we both work together, we can get this done. I know you can do it by yourself, but I’m glad to help since you asked.
19. What do you wish for? Even if it’s not yet time for birthday candles and we don’t have a wishbone, it’s still fun to hear about what you wish for, hope for, and dream about.

LEGO Photo

Picture 1

Here’s something I stumbled across during the holiday season. Created by the Lego Group, it’s an iPhone app that lets you create Lego Brick mosaics using photos taken by your iPhone. Ever wondered how your kids or pets might look Lego Brick-a-tized? Well look no further. A fun app to play with that lets you choose the color scheme of the Bricks. One small feature that I saw missing and thought was needed was the share or email feature. All in all it is a fun app and you can get it free on iTunes. Click here for a quick link on the app store on iTunes.
